Description
AsbestosFlex is a highly flexible, eco-friendly pure acrylic paint. With up to 450% stable elongation, it is ideal for roofs due to the constant expanding and contracting movement. In addition, AsbestosFlex is adhesion promoted and is specifically formulated to adhere to a porous substrate like asbestos tiles. Finally, AsbestosFlex binds the asbestos fibres to ensure they are no longer exposed, preventing further deterioration due to weathering.
When preparing the surface for application, ensure the substrate has been washed off and is free of any dust or objects and chemicals that might cause non-adhesion to the substrate. Be sure the substrate has adequately dried before applying the product. In addition, we recommend continuous brushing or spraying compressed air on the immediate area to be sprayed.
AsbestosFlex is pre-packaged in a 20-litre bucket. Mix the product thoroughly at medium speed before application. Once the substrate is prepared as above, cover all surrounding and non-sprayable areas with masking tape to avoid damage or overspray.
Once the Aquapel primer has dried, apply the first layer of AsbestosFlex with a brush or roller. When the first coat is dry, apply a second and third layer. Ensure each layer is touch-dry before painting on another coat. A two to three-coat application of AsbestosFlex per 20-litre bucket covers 35 – 45 m².
AsbestosFlex is touch-dry after one to two hours at 25°C and fully cured after seven days.
Because AsbestosFlex is water-based, application tools can be cleaned under running water.
Standard AsbestosFlex colours for waterproofing are grey, white, black, terracotta and green. However, we can supply the waterproofing paint in any of our 90 standard colours, and some colours can be matched on request.
